Corrections Policy
How we handle errors and updates.
Last updated 16 September 2026
We aim to be accurate. When we are not, we correct the record openly.
How corrections work
- Correction — a factual error is fixed and a note is added to the article explaining what was wrong and what changed.
- Clarification — the facts were accurate but the wording could mislead; we clarify and note the change.
- Update — a developing story has moved on; we add new information and note when it was added.
- Retraction — where a story cannot be substantiated, it is withdrawn and a notice explains why.
Material factual errors are never silently edited away. Every correction is recorded against the article with the date, the nature of the change and the editor responsible, and visible corrections are displayed on the article itself.
